I’ll See You There was created after seeing Girl Ultra perform in summer 2025. I tried to make my own version of her song, Amores de droga. But as you can hear, it turned out quite different 🤪 By the time I decided I was happy with the song, it was on its 9th iteration.

This song needed so much attention (spoiled lil thing) but I’m glad I was patient and gave it the consideration and space it needed to grow. It turned out beautifully and I’m so proud of it — it’s definitely my favourite song I’ve made thus far in my music career.

For all you Banana-heads out there, I will share some of the early versions of the song and you can hear how the song progressed. Here is the bounce after the first session: 728 [grl ltra]. (Check out the cringe French poem at the end 🤢 Bad choice, but the idea was there!)

After I got the strings from a cellist on Fiverr, I got the idea to add a second part of the song, stemming from a melancholic chord progression I found on my guitar. The poem that my friend Magnolia read was used with permission from an Argentine writer. It’s called Bien tomados de la mano and I think it’s meant for kids… but it was so simple and sweet that I had to try it. And I’m glad I did because the poetry overtop of the acoustic guitar became so evocative — I love it.

Magnolia and I actually recorded the poem for a different song, but then I tried replacing the French poem with her reading… and man it sounded good. It fit so perfectly I squealed 🌟

Here is the bounce of the second half of the song with Magnolia’s poetry reading: 728 [grl ltra] v4 - end bit.
